No pressure at all. We can just chat and see how it goes. How's your day been?
Respond to what they actually said before anything else. Then add one easy question, like asking for their opinion or about a plan, so the chat keeps moving. Keep the question simple enough to answer in a sentence.
Pick one specific detail from their photos or prompts and mention it. A question about their dog or their favorite trip shows you read the profile. Generic compliments are easy to skip.
Mirror their length and tone. If they send one line, a long paragraph can feel like too much. If they're playful, keep it light. If they're thoughtful, slow down and be a little more open.
One or two lines usually work best. Short messages leave room for them to reply, and that back-and-forth is what keeps a chat going. Save the longer stories for later, once the chat has some momentum.
Light teasing is fine, but avoid anything that puts pressure on them. If they set a boundary or go quiet, respect it. Don't send several messages in a row to chase a reply.
When the chat is going well, suggest a low-key first date somewhere public, like a coffee shop or a walk. Stay on the app until you feel comfortable sharing a phone number or other contact details.
