How AI companions remember you
When an AI companion brings up something you said last week, it is not reading a diary in the way a person would. Several mechanisms work together, and each has limits. This guide explains them so you know what to expect and how to keep the conversation accurate.

Recent messages
A language model can only read a limited amount of text at once. The most recent messages in a conversation are included in every reply, which is why a character answers what you just said. Anything older has to be carried another way, or it drops out of view.
Summaries
Long conversations are often condensed into a short summary. The summary keeps the shape of the relationship: what you talk about, what the character knows about you and how the mood has changed. Summaries are compact, so a few details can be lost in the process.
Saved notes
The most useful memory is a set of short notes about things worth keeping: a job interview, a pet's name, a holiday you are planning. On AI Flirt Chat each character keeps its own notes, and they come up when they fit the conversation. A note written for one character is not shared with another, and the notes are deleted with your account.
Where memory fails
Memory is not perfect, and it is worth knowing where it breaks. A detail mentioned once in passing may never be saved. A correction may not replace an older note. A model can mix up two similar facts, and an app update can change how memory behaves.
- Passing details may be missed
- Older facts can outweigh a new correction
- Similar details can be confused
- Behaviour can change after an update
How to correct a character
Correct the character in plain words: say what is wrong and what is right. Repeating an important fact once or twice helps it stick. If a character keeps getting the same thing wrong, try restating it in a fresh message.
Your privacy settings let you export the data we hold about you, including the memories, so you can see what has been kept.
Why two characters can feel different
Each character is written with its own voice, backstory and list of things it cares about, so memory means something different for each one. The notes a character keeps are the ones that matter to that character, which is why a detail you shared with one character will not appear with another.
This separation is deliberate. It keeps each story clean and makes it easier to understand what each character has been told.
Questions people ask
Why did my character forget something I told her?
Details mentioned in passing are not always saved, and older notes can outweigh newer ones. Restate the important point and it is more likely to stick.
Can I see what the character remembers?
You can export your data from the privacy settings. The export includes the memories held about you.
Do characters share memories with each other?
No. Each character keeps its own notes, and nothing one character learns is passed to another.
How can I check what has been kept about me?
Export your data from the privacy settings. Asking a character what it remembers can be useful, but the export is the more reliable record.
Will a character remember me forever?
Notes are kept for as long as your account exists, and deleting your account removes them. When you correct a fact, the older note can be replaced.
What if a character mentions something from another chat?
Notes are kept per character, so this should not happen. If you see it, use the report option on the message so we can look into it.
